Michele Fowkes has been a passionate educator for over 20 years. She is currently a K-12 Curriculum Supervisor for Humanities in eastern Pennsylvania. Previously, she served as a MS and HS English teacher, K-8 reading specialist, literacy consultant, and instructional coach. Michele earned her MS in Curriculum and Instruction: Language and Literacy Education from The Pennsylvania State University and her K-12 Supervisory Certificate from Kutztown University. She became a National Writing Project Fellow in 2007 and was a finalist for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year in 2011. She is passionate about facilitating professional development, engaging teachers as readers and writers, and forming communities of practice. A lifelong learner, Michele is focused presently on growing herself in the areas of culturally responsive pedagogy and UDL.
