Shveta Miller is a thought partner for educators and leaders seeking support with creating rich literacy learning experiences for all students. She facilitates ongoing job-embedded professional learning services to decrease disparities, disproportionality, and predictability in student outcomes. Shveta has nearly two decades of experience in literacy education as a Language Arts teacher, staff development leader, coach, instructional designer, and national literacy consultant. She is the author, most recently, of Hacking Graphic Novels: 8 Ways to Teach Higher-Level Thinking with Comics and Visual Storytelling, and is a passionate advocate for using multimodal texts of all kinds to create engaged, insightful, curious readers and thinkers who are comfortable with the complex. Shveta currently serves on Oregon’s Governor’s Council for Educator Advancement, as the President Elect for the Oregon State Literacy Association (state chapter of ILA), and the Director of Curriculum for the national non profit Reading With Pictures. She writes about teaching and learning for popular teacher sites like Edutopia and Cult of Pedagogy.
