Jody Langan is a multilingual educator, curriculum writer, and speculative literacy dreamer rooted in rural Minnesota and shaped by years in Brooklyn and Ecuador. She currently teaches third grade in Minnesota, where her classroom runs on creativity, inquiry, and justice-centered work. Her teaching centers multilingual learners and honors students’ identities as resources for learning. She is the co-author of Los Narcisos, a collection of Spanish-language decodable texts designed to reflect the diverse lives of children and families.
Jody brings over 17 years of experience across classroom, district, university, and publishing roles both nationally and internationally. She served as a staff developer and instructor at Teacher’s College Columbia University. Then, in Minnesota, as the former Director of Multilingual Learning for Minneapolis Public Schools, she led districtwide efforts to strengthen equity, curriculum, and teacher development. She designs professional learning experiences, speculative fiction units, and frameworks that empower students and teachers to imagine and build more liberatory futures. Farming on a family farm where seeds are planted both in soil and in story, Jody grounds her work in community care, joy, and a belief in language as a tool for transformation.
