Rebecca Marsick has taught elementary school as well as English at both the middle and high school levels. Currently a Secondary Literacy Coach for the Westport Public Schools in Westport, CT, she supports equitable, antiracist practices for teachers in their understanding and application of disciplinary literacy across the content areas and students in both strengthening their literacy skills and developing a love of reading and writing. She is also the co-author of Stretching Beyond the Textbook, an adjunct professor at Fairfield University, presents on literacy at both local and national conferences, and is one of the founders of the Saugatuck StoryFest, a festival that celebrates bringing communities together through story. In supporting student activism, she believes that critical thinking and the ability to question are essential skills for creating strong citizens.
