Karina Guerrero is a Spanish and ESL educator, doctoral student, advocate, and writer. She has over 16 years of experience teaching world languages, primarily focusing on teaching Spanish for heritage speakers 9th to 12th graders, and English as a second language in adult education settings.
A proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and a first-generation scholar, Karina’s work is deeply rooted in equity, social justice, and the empowerment of Latinx students and families. She is passionate about transforming educational spaces through culturally sustaining pedagogies, community cultural wealth frameworks, and critical advocacy for immigrant and mixed-status families.
Karina is currently pursuing her doctorate in Education with a focus on K-12 equity at Claremont Graduate University. She is an active union leader, National Board candidate, Human Rights Cadre Trainer, and an advocate who uplifts BIPOC educator voices navigating exclusionary systems.
