Julia Pledl is a 6th year teacher in Los Angeles, CA. A proud graduate of UCLA’s Teacher Education Program at Center X where she earned an M.Ed. Julia is dedicated to creating inclusive and equitable learning communities with her students and their families each year. Julia believes literacy is emancipatory and has worked as an instructional coach and professional development leader in various settings across LA. In her work as a literacy coach, her primary focus has been supporting middle school and high school teachers in bringing Workshop to their english classrooms. Passionate about continuing to grow her praxis, Julia loves to collaborate and learn from other teachers. She has had the opportunity to share her work at conferences around the country, presenting on topics such as student-led inquiry and action research in middle school, reclaiming comprehension in the underrepresentation of children’s lit, developing positive reading identities, and how to create inclusive and safe classrooms for our LGBTQIA+ students and families.
